Crowdpurr allows you to combine the scores of multiple Trivia Game Experiences in your Experience's Live Rankings and Leaderboard view. You can leverage this functionality to create multi-dimensional trivia experiences that can include multiple scoring rounds, bonus rounds, or you can even conduct a multi-session trivia game that lasts over the course of several days at a week-long event such as a conference.
How Scores Are Calculated
If your Trivia Experience has Points-Mode enabled, then the Multi-Game Trivia Rankings View will display a cumulative points score for each player across every game that is added to the Multi-Game Rankings below. If your Trivia Experience has Points-Mode disabled, then the player's overall correct answer percentage will be cumulatively calculated across all selected Trivia Experiences.
Configuring Multi-Game Trivia Rankings
On the green Trivia Game Settings tab on the Experience Dashboard, click the Trivia Format heading. On the right side, there is a settings-box called Multi-Game Rankings. Under Add Trivia Games you can click to enable each Trivia Experience you want included in your cumulative Multi-Game Trivia Rankings. Only the Trivia Experience which you select will be added into the overall Multi-Game Trivia Rankings.
Enabling Multi-Game Rankings View
Crowdpurr, by default, shows the Live Rankings and Leaderboard of the current Trivia game only when you enable Show Live Rankings on the Experience Dashboard by pressing the R-key on your keyboard or clicking on the Show Rankings (R) button on the Experience Dashboard. By default, this updates both the Projector View and Mobile with the current game's scores and rankings leaderboard.
After you add additional Trivia Experiences to the Multi-Game Rankings Options, the Experience Dashboard will now show an additional button under Viewer Controls.
This button says Show Multi-Game Rankings (M) and clicking on it will instantly update the rankings with the Multi-Game Rankings on the Projector View, Mobile View, and the Rankings tab on the Experience Dashboard. You can also press the M-key on the keyboard to quickly enable this view. Additionally, on the Projector View, this setting is listed under the pop-up configuration menu.
You can toggle this setting off and on at any time using the keyboard shortcut or any of the toggle switches.
Upon switching questions, the Multi-Game Rankings setting will automatically disable and must be re-enabled in order to show the Multi-Game Rankings again.
Create Trivia Rounds & Multi-Day Trivia Events
Creating multiple trivia rounds that each have their separate score but also have a cumulative overall score can be easily achieved by following these steps:
- Create a separate Trivia Experience for each round and name the Trivia Experience accordingly (e.g. "Trivia Round 1", "Trivia Round 2", "Trivia Bonus Round", etc.) Build your round of questions and answers into each Trivia Experience.
- In each Experience's Trivia Game Settings tab, enable the additional Trivia Experiences you want to include in the overall scoring in the Multi-Game Trivia Rankings settings. In this example you would add all of the above trivia round Experiences we created so that they are included in the Multi-Game Trivia Rankings.
Now, when you play through each Trivia Experience, you can show the current round's score by simply enabling Show Rankings (R). You can then show the overall multi-round score, by enabling Show Multi-Game Rankings (M). In this example, you could play through each trivia round (i.e. Trivia Experience) until the last question. Then you could show the final score of this round and then the overall multi-game cumulative score. Or you could save the overall score until the end of the final round and skip configuring and enabling Multi-Game Rankings on the early trivia rounds and only use it for the final round.
Connecting Players To Different Trivia Rounds Easily
Use the Next Round feature to easily "move" your current and future players from one Trivia Round/Experience to another. This feature lets you select any of your other Experiences (i.e. Trivia Rounds) to instantly move your players. Upon reaching the end of one Trivia Round/Experience and showing the final score for the round (Show Rankings - R) and the overall score (Multi-Game Trivia Rankings - M), you can then trigger the Next Round to automatically move your players to the next round without them having to enter in a new Experience Code or URL.
Upon triggering your Next Round, all of your players will instantly load the Experience you select which would be the Trivia Experience that is your next round of Trivia. Your Experience Dashboard and Projector View (if open) will also instantly update and load the selected Experience. You can then press the Start button on the newly loaded Experience and your players will start playing the next round of Trivia.
To set an Next Round:
- Go the the upper-right corner of the Experience Dashboard.
- Click the Edit button next to the Next Round label
- Select the Trivia Game from the dropdown you want to move your players and yourself to. Your Next Round is now set. The Go to Next Round button is now active. You may also choose to edit the Tournament Settings in order to create bracket-style tournaments where only top ranking players advance.
- When you're ready to move your participants, click the Go To Next Round button. Then confirm the move in the pop-up pane.
- Proceed with your next trivia round.
You can repeat this process for each round of trivia you created including bonus rounds, etc. You can even set the Next Round to be a exit Poll/Survey, Social Wall, or external website.
When a Next Round is set, it's permanent and will remain until they are manually reset or your various Experiences are reset. The Next Round setting is permanent so any future players (e.g. late players) that join your original Experience (e.g. Trivia Round 1) will automatically catch up to where you are currently at in your game (i.e. they'll be moved automatically to the current round). Upon resetting all of your Trivia Round Experiences, all Next Rounds will automatically be removed. See the below article on Next Round to learn more.
Showing Overall Final Scores
You would display your overall final multi-round score, rankings leaderboard, and winners by loading your final Trivia Round Experience that has every other Trivia Round Experience added to its Multi-Game Trivia Rankings settings-box, and enabling Show Rankings (R) and then enabling Show Multi-Game Rankings (M). Because of the final Trivia Round Experience's configuration, it would be showing the overall final high-scoring players in the leaderboard.
Creating a trivia game with multiple rounds is fun and exciting, but it does require some advanced configuration and practice. Be sure to rehearse ahead-of-time the various operations of enabling switching questions, enabling Show Rankings, enabling Multi-Game Rankings, and triggering Next Rounds for the most effective presentation.
