During your Poll you may want to show your crowd the real-time results of their votes on the various questions and answers of your Poll. You can do this in between each question, at the very end, or keep the real-time results view on the entire time!
We call the Live Results a "view" in Crowdpurr and views are essentially toggles that can be turned off and on. By default, "Show Live Answer Results" is enabled on Polls.
There are several ways to toggle the views off and on in Crowdpurr depending on where you're working. All "view" buttons are synced and can be enabled or disabled from any of the following locations:
From the Experience Dashboard, the Viewer Controls Buttons:
Simply click on the button listed under the "Viewer Controls" heading. This will toggle the Live Answer Results on and off on the Projector View. The idea here is that you can enable this view from the Experience Dashboard without having to mouse into the Projector View. To turn off the view, simply press the button again.
From the Projector View, the Configure-Menu Toggle Switches:
The same view is also toggle-able from the Projector View window. Simply click on the "gear button" in the lower-right-hand corner of the Projector View, and the same view is available as a switch.
From the Keyboard, use the Keyboard Shortcuts:
The easiest method to enable a view is to simply use your computer's keyboard. Simply press the letter on the keyboard to enable a given "view". The "view's" keyboard shortcut is listed next to the description of the view on both the Experience Dashboard or the Projector View. The keyboard shortcut can be used on both the Experience Dashboard and the Projector View and you'll notice it updates both the buttons and toggle switches. To turn off a view, simply press the keyboard shortcut again.
By default, the following views are available for a Poll:
Show Live Answer Results ( A )
This view updates the Projector View with live vote results from your crowd! It updates the Projector View to show a bar chart that features the number of votes received for each question and the percentage of the crowd that voted on that answer. This view is also live, so it updates in real-time as votes are received by Crowdpurr. The keyboard shortcut is "A" (to remember it, think of "A" is for answers).
Revisiting Game Flow
Now that you know how to toggle the Show Live Answers view, the previous step's game flow makes more sense. Let's revisit it:
- Start your Poll (make sure the Active Question is on the first question). Starting your Poll will open voting on the crowd's mobile devices.
- Allow time for your crowd to vote on the question. You can keep any eye on the Quick Stats and Total Questions Votes on the Experience Dashboard to better know how much of your crowd has voted on the question. Additionally, you can show "Live Answer Results" to see the crowd's vote in real-time.
- Optionally, show your crowd the "Live Answer Results" on the Projector View.
- You're now ready to proceed to the next question. Update the Active Question to the next questions.
- Repeat steps 2 - 4 until the end of your last question.
- Review the Answer Results with your crowd.
- Finalize your Poll (more on this in the next step).
So you can now see how it makes sense to do Step 2 - Allow your crowd to answer the question. When the crowd has finished voting, you can do Step 3 and announce "Let's see how the crowd responded?" You can then enable "Show Live Answer Results" and your crowd can see how everyone voted. After this, just update the Active Question to the next question and your crowd will then vote on the next question. You then repeat this process until the end of the Poll.
You now know how to setup, run, and test your Poll! We'll learn how to reset our Poll and clear out our dry-run crowd responses in the next step Finishing and Resetting Your Poll.
